As the Linux Team Lead you will manage a team of Linux Engineers in the US, UK, and India supporting large scale hosted and on-premises managed services environments. You must be a motivated, client-focused professional with excellent communication skills, who has experience managing a team and able to adapt to the various nuances that come with working in multiple regions. Together with the other members of the support team, you will need to take ownership, troubleshoot, and resolve direct and indirect client support requests in a timely and professional manner. As a team leader, you need to show guidance and best practices to the team, and mentor them to develop successfully in their roles including various line management tasks. Responsibilities • Lead the Linux engineering team and develop/support the delivery of the best-in-class solutions. • Provide technical leadership in implementing best practices and driving standards with the team. • Lead the team and mentor/coach them to perform to the best of their abilities. • Linux platform administration and lifecycle management. • Deployment and automation of applications using Puppet Enterprise. • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve server events and user incidents. • Work with the wider infrastructure team to provide support. • Engage in detailed planning, change control and thorough testing to ensure performance, availability, and stability. • Keep systems secure via system hardening, patching, vulnerability threat management and mitigation. • Manage and deploy system monitoring and management tools; Zabbix & HIDS. • Create and maintain clear and accurate system documentation. • Available to participate in 2nd/3rd line support out of standard business hours. Requirements • A great leader while also an effective team player; actively guides, develops, and supports team members. • Strong Linux administration skills. • Experience and management of infrastructure with configuration and source code management, ideally with Puppet Enterprise and Git. • Experience of Containers & Kubernetes. • Excellent communication skills and experience working collaboratively with systems engineers, developers, administrators, and business partners. • Experience of providing services to external business customers • Adaptable, working as part of a supportive, well-established team but is also self-sufficient and organized, with meticulous attention to detail. • Good analytical and problem-solving skills Nice to have • Experience LDAP, SSSD and Kerberos • Experience in building and running OpenShift environments. • Understanding agile practices and devops culture. • Understanding of common web application architectures. • Understanding and experience of working in secure environments under ISO27001 or equivalent. • • Understanding and experience of working under ITIL framework. Location The office is based in Cary, NC. Ideally close to office so you can attend approx. once a week but can be completely remote.
