I am honestly tired of seeing these posts on Blind. You're literally going to an anonymous website and asking people to vouch for you professionally. It is the opposite of logical and is inflation to the value of legitimate references.

I appreciate your concern. If there would be a fair screening between the referral and the non referral, then I would have never used this kind of alternative. You may criticize or admire the alternate solution, you may consider it as a loophole in the system or a window of an opportunity for smart people. It is not a vouch just a smart play.

Either I go via job consultant, employee referral or a direct applicant I will get a job if and only if I am capable of that so it is nothing wrong in it.

Seriously? You want someone who doesn't know you to refer you, and risk their reputation on someone they've never met?

I don't have bad intentions at all to harm anyone reputation. If someone is applying for a job he would be having some credibility, experience, industry knowledge. No one would refer without looking into the JD and resume. I think it is an opportunity to help someone who need help. It is just a reference not a guarantee. Do you actually think that employee which is getting hired without a referral is not trustworthy

Soliciting references from strangers is ultimately productive so long as the solicitor is willing to be judged harshly by peers

Microsoft has a referral path for "this person asked me for a referral, but I can't vouch for their skills"

I also want to work at Microsoft, but know it's not easy to get in

I think getting interview call from Msft isn't that hard right now for these positions

It only worked once for me. If I do refer someone I have no knowledge of his or her professional abilities, I have always stated that. This basically means my referral adds little to no value.

Avoid Azure like the plague

Why?

Microsoft Ball'merca Sep 3, 2017

Bad management. And zero work-life balance. Personally, I had two really crappy managers and an incompetent skip. One m-1 was beyond terrible. To the point of unethical and backstabbing. Pretty much everyone here has a similar story.

I know someone works there and hates it. Horrible work/life balance. Just 1 data point though.
