Looking for remote work, ideally an Exchange Admin position for $75k annually. Anyone hiring or have an in?
I've been in the Help Desk field for over a decade and spent the last 4 years working Exchange using PowerShell and Proofpoint. I'm currently employed but the company is no longer allowing remote work, which is necessary for my needs. I have a medically needy child, an infant, and my wife is disabled. Her back is all kinds of messed up and can't even lift the kids to change diapers. So we both work from home to help each other help the kids. I've applied for countless positions over the last month on LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Indeed and countless others and nothing is turning out. I'm feeling pretty desperate and looking for some help. Maybe my resume sucks? I figured my current position, the fact I work for Goldman Sachs and that I'm not unemployed would all work in my favor but in a couple weeks I'll be going to Jack in the Box to work the drive through. Not really, that's sarcasm but holy shit how is it this hard to get hired?
It's probably hard due to recession/hiring freeze/layoff season. Not sure about Proofpoint, but if you see any positions you're interested in, you can PM me for a referral and I can take a look at your resume
In this economy, it will be hard to find a job. Also many companies are going away from hosted exchange and just using cloud Office or other options. I would say your best bet is to suck it up and stay. Even working at Jack in the box would require you to be onsite (unless they have tech to do drive thru remotely !) Negotiate with GS to allow you to work remote for a bit longer - bring medical proof etc and try to get a 3 or 6 month exemption
Don't listen to the others here, there are still plenty of tech jobs available although maybe not with FAANG. Go through a recruiter like RH, and they should be able to find you plenty of EXO admin gigs that not only pay at least the amount you specified, but also remote. Most of these roles will probably be contract to hire but do well and they will keep extending.
Or am I going about this all wrong?
