In about 2 years I am targeting a company that I can stay at forever. Is there a company with all of these characteristics at once ? -Product led, where PMs are respected and are in charge of the direction -Great culture and WLB, where they ‘care’ (at least operationally) about people and their families personally. Only during business hours. -Exciting work, not looking to coast. I want to solve real problems and innovate constantly. -Good people, kind not cutthroat. -Has strong ethics Does this exist?
If your goal is to stay at a company for forever, you’re coasting. That said, Google fits a good chunk of your criteria but ain’t product led
Also, what’s the obsession with being a lifer at a company? Tech industry moves fast - most companies that are awesome today may not be around in 10 years or would certainly be way past their days of glory.
No, coasting is not doing anything significant or being ambitious. I want to be intrapraneurial and don’t want to have to go through the months long interview processes. I want to innovate and move up within a single company that I believe in
Sorry this unicorn doesn’t and couldn’t exist for someone’s lifetime. I’m sure you could find a team or org that this may stay true for a few years.
I’ve been a PM for a long time. You’ll probably find some of the items on your list but not all, so you’ll have to compromise.
Out of curiosity, is meta considered product led? I know Amazon is and Google is not. I think Meta is Eng led but not sure 🤔
Adobe
I would have said Twitter a month ago
Sorry for your loss :(
Sorry for all of our loss
This is honestly LinkedIn. At least in many orgs.
Is it meaningful work?
What does meaningful mean to you?
Marqeta isn't as flashy as the big names but definitely checks your boxes
Probably Adobe
Sorry for side-tracking your question, I didn’t know intuit was considered evil. Why is that?
Yea, I’m also interested in knowing this
Generally they're the reason why the US tax system is stupidly complicated and makes you use tax filing software unlike any other 1st world country where the countries' equivalent to the IRS just sends a bill to the tax payer saying, "Hey we have you recording earning X amount please pay Y amount by this date. Thanks." Also they spend millions annually every year lobbying congress to make the tax code more annoying and difficult to navigate to sell their products.
