It’s been close to a year of looking for work after finishing my contract, and at this point I wouldn’t mind taking a job almost anywhere just so I can stop this growing gap in my resume. I’m located in Canada but don’t mind getting a TN for the US for work. What are some low competition companies or sectors I can target so I can at least get an interview scheduled? I’ve looked into Canadian banks and smaller companies in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto, but it’s been next to impossible to find Junior level positions in this market YOE: 1 as SWE, 4 month contract as APM
Cleared jobs in defense
I mean I've had ex-FAANG come across my desk but we can't hire them even if we wanted to, we're saturated af with devs without clearances that are waiting on them to come through. Job market is rough rn..
You sound like you are selling yourself short on your resume in general. If you want to be recruited for TN jobs changed your linked in to somewhere in the States much easier when you see what is coming your way.
That’s actually a pretty good idea, I’ll see what I can do. My last job as an APM was with a Bay Area company albeit remote. I’m sure my Canadian address could possibly scare some HMs away
Try not to worry about gaps in your resume I move the dates on mine all the time to fix gaps.
Look for jobs in other industries. Tech no longer belongs to people with 0-3 years. Jump back in a year or two.
