12 years of exp Base 220k + signon 60k + around $1.1M RSU. At Apple now, I have a little more base and around $700k unvested stocks. A couple of questions: 1. Recruiter said they are “preliminary”... so any room for negotiation at all? 2. There’s No annual bonus or refresh at lyft? Thanks! @Lyft
Thanks, guess the real question is, would you trade Apple stocks for 50% more of paper money of lyft?
50% or more over how many years? How many years will your 700K AAPL vest?
Yes that’s an important question. I bet most of that will vest in the next 2-3 years instead of 4 years. Compare your 1 year TC, 2 year TC, 3 year TC. Of course finance is not the only angle but it is one to fully understand.
What’s the equivalent level at Google, Amazon or MSFT?
Not sure actually, but it’s a manager position
What level? 5?6?7?
Stay at Apple, better base, real RSU, stable company
How many years at Apple?
2 years only
Its a no brainer. Stay at Apple man. Solid stock, solid TC. By the way, are you ICT5? Which org?
What’s harm taking risk once a while
The risk to reward ratio is not great here. In 4 years the Apple stock will be worth $1m+ too. Also, here we ha e good refreshers and bonus. So actually in next 4 years he will have a $1m+ unvested apple stock even if the value stays the same. So no point in taking this risk.
Hmm...700k real money for 1.1 paper money? I’d stick with Apple. By the time that 700k vests it’ll probably be worth 1.1 unless the stock goes to hell.
Is fiat currency ‘real money?’
Yes, because you could buy whatever you want with that Fiat money.
Stick with Lyft. Itll probably be worth $2.2M in 5 years. How likely is it for Apple to 2x off its $1T market cap?
Does lyft have any annual bonus or rsu refresh? Thanks
No they do not
imho, It should be at least 1.5M for a move from AAPL the LYFT ..
I'm a little disappointed how everyone here is all about money and stability... rather than asking whether this new opportunity allow this person to grow in the direction they want... I'd say depends what you want out from life. Ask yourself these questions? 1. Which aspect of Lyft attracted you initially? 2. Are you happy / bored at Apple? Are you there just for the money? Or are you working on something you're passionate about? 3. How will switching to Lyft vs staying at Apple allow you to get closer to what you want in life? It can be job title, seniority, project, personal purpose, or even just money. 4. Do you prefer very stable, guaranteed paycheck+RSU? What will you gain or lose by only getting paycheck month-to-month? 5. How much wealth have you accumulated? Do you have enough liquidable cash that you can afford not getting the Apple stocks regularly in exchange of a different experience at Lyft? (If that's what you want)
He was asking about object metrics that include compensation. Hard to compare the others on a forum such as this.
Solid offer
