I have a 2017 HP Omen desktop that I love but, frankly, is overpowered for the work I do. I’m looking to minimize my footprint and am looking for a mini-computer. I’ve been on the fence between an M1 Mac Mini or an Intel NUC. The Mac honestly is just sexy; let’s be honest, haha. On the other hand, the Intel NUC is pleasant for me because I’m used to the Windows ecosystem, and the customization makes it powerful. I wish I had more to say, but I’m going to open a poll and see what the community thinks about the options below. Hopefully, that’ll spark a good discussion. Thanks!
Mac if you need a computer, NUC if you need a smart space heater.
Is this a joke? M chip is the way to go.
Seems like a resounding M1 so far 😂 Okay but for people that transitioned from Windows, is it an easy transition?
Yes.
Yes
The only reason to get the NUC over the Mac is if you game a lot
You'd think I game a lot with an HP Omen, right? Man, I just play Fallout: New Vegas, haha.
For gaming, set aside a separate budget for SteamDeck
Why not a MacBook?
M1 Mac mini. Check the compatibility of the software that you frequently use.
Mostly just Visual Studio and VS Code.
I use VScode on M1 MacBook pro. No problem whatsoever.
linux on nuc, plus you can heat your house at the same time 😂
Is this even a question😆 M1
