I currently have a masters in ECE from Carnegie Mellon University and with 4 years of experience. Started to realize that I am more inclined to the management aspect of tech. My question being: is it necessary to get an MBA degree to climb the management ladder in tech. Also, if I had to search for management positions in other companies, would an MBA degree help in transitioning and is it big value addition in terms of TC. Also, are part time MBAs considered as relevant as full time? #software #tech #career #mbacompensation #mba
Alright then, case closed.
Also with a CMU technology degree and a manager. No you do not. Many companies have parallel IC and Management tracks that bifurcates after a few years in the company. Have a chat with your manager about your interests and if heβs good and supportive they can plot a trajectory for you. Also contemplated an MBA earlier in my career. Decided against it. Didnβt matter.
Thank you.
Generally easy to get a manager position in your current job. Very hard to get hired outside as a manager if you donβt have exp. unless you try at smaller companies.
MBA is a useless degree.
Then why am I in FAANG, and you are not? π
MBA is a useless degree. Have worked, and managed, at multiple FANGs.
