MBA programs in Canada

How can I find ranking of colleges with good MBA programs in Canada? Is there an equivalent of the US News and World Report ranking we’ve for colleges in USA? Asking for a friend in India. He isn’t interested moving to US for MBA program given the visa difficulties.

There aren’t.

Why do you say so?

Microsoft UMbR31 Sep 29, 2018

None. Non US MBA is very geography-locked-in. If you're very particular about MBA abroad, then do a US top 10 school MBA. Even if you don't get a visa, a megacorp employer will send you to Canada, etc. If not, maybe Insead Singapore, because it's the gateway to rapidly growing South East Asia too. Rest are all potentially declining economies like UK, Europe, Canada. If you're Indian, why not ISB or IIMs though?

Thank you. My friend feels the odds of cracking into IIMs is hard. Also there is the reservation system that makes it hard to break through unless you’ve a top notch percentile. For ISB, he did look into it, but felt he wanted more international exposure. He did look into top 10 MBA in US. He wants to give it a shot, but the deadlines for next admission are now and he’s late in applying. Thank you for the insights!

Man, it is deeply concerning that you blame reservation as a reason, on a completely unrelated context on an app like Blind. The general category seats are still the same, they were never reduced. Anyway, good luck.

The closest is the Macleans annual rankings, but several top schools have refused to hand over data to Macleans. They were punished by being lower ranked. This is because Macleans decided to start using surveys of people like high school guidance councilors, asking for their “opinions” of schools. Not exactly unbiased. I can’t help with MBA, but the top business undergrads are Ivey at Western and Smith School of Business at Queen’s. I would also look into Rotman at UofT for graduate level. Many of the schools offer remote programs in bigger cities, like downtown Toronto, so you can complete an MBA part time while working.

Thank you so much! 🙂

Top schools in Canada are U of T, McGill, and Queens. Those three pretty much good for anything. For business you can add York. For tech you can add Waterloo. If it had to be West Coast then UBC but it's not got the same rep, just best of the West.

Thank you 🙂

UofT or McGill

Thank you!

Don't waste your money on a mba... if you want to really do it, do it in iim

Oracle $;))! OP Sep 29, 2018

Cracking IIM is really hard, thanks though!

Microsoft qwes4fvu Sep 29, 2018

Go the gre route... it might be easier

Would strongly suggest Singapore (NUS,NTU or INSEAD),INSEAD France or London business school. If your friend can crack the top 10-15 in the US it’s worth it. Look at Canada only if you can’t get into any of these.First priority for an MBA should be quality of the school and economic prospects in that particular Geography.

Oracle $;))! OP Sep 29, 2018

Sure, will pass on this to him. He definitely wants to give the top 15-25 in US a shot.

What's the point of an MBA? Most end up unemployed. Unless they do it alongside their job.
