Can some MBB folks provide comp progression for undergrad hires (0-4 years) in a T1 city (NYC, SF)? Friend is a senior in college looking to benchmark consulting v finance career paths. TC - $150k, SF finance 1 YOE #mckinsey #bain #bcg
I do strategy at FB. We almost only hire ex MBB with 5-15 years experience. So there are good exits down the road
McK comp depends heavily on performance. For avg performer BCG out of undergrad will pay much more
BCG comp for fresh grads starts at 130 - not bad no?
Comp doesn’t change much city to city. 120 base. After 3-4 years, it’s expected you go get an mba, then come out as a sr consultant: 165 base
Is that 120 base right out undergrad? What's the increase year over year as you become more senior?
There is no year over year base increase. You need to get promoted to the next level and will get the comp bumped to that next level. To compete with tech companies, MBBs are handing out promotions like Halloween candy, including making people Engagement Manager 2 years after college and Associate Principal after another 2.
