Currently have an offer for Meta E5, Databricks and Snowflake Senior. Location - Bay Area TC 450k META, 430k (Databricks and Snow), (not exact numbers) Current Location - Seattle Current TC - 220k Level - 62, YOE 7 Visa: H1B Contemplating taking META but I am concerned about WLB . Maybe this is also imposter syndrome at play. I work in Azure and I am OK with my current WLB (roughly 40hrs). I have led projects but heard E5 is brutal in terms of impact and scope. How's the WLB at META? Is it worth making the switch? **Pros** TC jump and increase in level Bay area better weather and new city. Don't like Seattles weather. **Cons** WLB Uncertain future and times for the company. Interview Experience (for people who are interested, good luck) Interviewed on - Nov 2 week Meta - 2 Medium FB tagged questions in all rounds. SD - Alex Xu's popular question.
Personally, I’d lean towards DB or Snow. Meta with their recent layoffs and not too successful Metaverse ventures and brutal WLB, I wouldn’t go there.
Then OP should go to Databricks. Consider your snowflake offer your long term TC unless you are truly exceptional. If the snow stock goes up, then you should expect 0 stock refresher no matter how well you do. Both Meta and Databricks offer guaranteed stock refreshers to everyone who meets the expectations.
What’s the split at Meta?
210k + 75k (signon) + remaining
Is your annual equity 450 - 210 - 75 = 165k ? 660k four year grant is too good for E5 IMO. Sign on will go away next year and refresher is ~ 200k for E5 MA rating so u will have ~25k dip next year but that’s minor and I wouldn’t care much. Overall good offer and I’ll recommend Meta.
62 -> E5 is a very good leap! Congratulations 👏
Thanks. It is good leap but change is scary honestly. Would have considered without double thinking if economy was like 2 years ago 😅.
How are you only level 62 at 7 yoe ? Great work at your offers. I came into E5 meta as L6 at Amazon, so just fyi at your peer competition.
Snow has a worst WLB as well. I would go for Meta if I were you. Just chose the right team
Congrats great offers. I’d prolly take databricks. Are those in person positions ?
What program language in Data Bricks? Scala? And what about WLB in Data Bricks?
I think you are lowballed. This amazon dude is getting 550k for E5 https://www.teamblind.com/us/s/LhVUWmnF
Still negotiating but honestly happy with the offers as it way better than Microsoft.
Ditto, I got 550k for e5 recently
Blows my mind some people still make broad claims about wlb at a company as large as Meta. It all depends on team/org. Some are chill, some are brutal.
Depends on the team. PSC's (performance review) are tricky. If you like to be independent and know which projects to take and to reject (because of impact) you will do well at Meta. If you need guidance or cannot create scope for yourself, you are going to suffer as E5. Also in some teams, the politics component is bigger, so having experience in playing politics help
Do you think your experience in azure was useful in interviews or anybody who could do lc and system design can crack ?
For META anyone who can do LC and SD can crack. It is a skill, completely irrelevant to the job honestly. Interviewing is mostly luck too and I got lucky with the questions at META.
