What happened at Mapbox recently? I was courted by a recruiter and was told that company is getting ready for IPO in 2023. It appears that some of those very recruiters and engineers are laid off quietly this week. - I'm looking for SWE referral at Mapbox. Can someone help out? - does Mapbox make enough money to survive coming recession? - is the revenue in few thousands or few millions or tens of millions? - how is the culture like? Blind is very negative while Comparably is not? is it negativity only stemming from failed Union effort or something more recent? - Are engineers and managers smart/helpful or backstabbers like Amazon's? Thank you for your insights. #mapbox #layoffs #swe #engineer #culture
TCS does not give RSUs. Why is mapbox worse though? The company has many customers, including Amazon. No revenue?
The layoffs affected mostly just sales org, customer support, and marketing. No developer roles in my org were cut afaik. To be honest, I never understood why the CS org was so bloated in the first place.. Company revenue is 100+ million. I like working there, have great co-workers and great autonomy. It seems like most of the disgruntled employees are based in the US while the culture and environment in European offices is great. All engineers and EMs I’ve worked with are really helpful and focus on work instead of politics. Then again, not sure how the teams based in US are like..
Any insights about the office in Helsinki? Or overall upcoming layoffs?
Thanks! If the company is in bad shape financially, given the current tech sector trend, this might be coming up (no matter the legal requirement I suppose).
