Hi guys, after so many tries with MS I finally got an offer. Could you please help to evaluate and give any negotiation tips ? Level: 61 Base pay: $115k Sign on bonus: $20k stock vesting in 4 years Annual bonus: average 10% of base pay Annual stock: didn’t say how much TOC: about $130k YOE: 10 How is it? Negotiation tips? I don’t have other offers in hand now but I had lately and I’m interviewing two other companies. Different sectors so no comparison. One thing for sure they all like me but I like MS… Thank you all so much!
That’s not good. This was essentially my offer ten years ago for the same level, same role, not controlled for inflation. I was able to negotiate the stock up a bit.
Thank you guys so much. Let me give a shot!
I advise use this opportunity as a launchpad for your next FANG move and don't stay at MSFT too long.
Agree!
OP, add a poll.
Any luck negotiating OP?

How much budget do you allocate or end up spending on for lifestyle annually?
I don't know about finance specifically but I think probably comparable to marketing - I bet $115k is bottom of the l61 wedge and you could negotiate up to $120. If you don't have an outside offer lean on that 10 yoe - claim you have comparable "industry experience". I think you could negotiate for either a stock signing bonus or stock. For reference an MBA typically comes in at l61 with $120k base, 50k signing cash bonus and 50k stock, and many MBAs have significantly less YOE (as little as 3)
