MS in CS in US for non-CS UG student ?

[ Asking ] Indian SWE folks with MS in CS from US. [ Situation ] UG Major completely unrelated to CS. Current work [independent contractor for a foreign company] is mostly like system admin/ IT/ Documentation. It doesn't involve lot of coding. The pay will be mediocre (if I move to that country after lifting entry ban). [ Goal ] I am looking for an option to come out of this, pursue SWE roles, Save a lot of $$ for USD to INR advantage enough to buy a decent home/land in India (2-3 Cr INR). [ Real Question ] Option 1 : MS in US -> LC grind -> SWE during OPT -> H1b if lucky. Option 2 : LC Grind -> Indian branch of a US FAANG type company -> Wait for internal transfer to US. Which of the two options is better in terms of $ saving potential and better choice of opportunities and is it possible to get MS in US for a very low cost if I go for very poorly ranked university ?
