I got an offer to join Microsoft following the acquisition of a startup I was working for in the UK. - Base: £150k ($180k equiv) - Bonus: 0-40% - RSUs: $75k, 1/4 available after 1 year. - LTI awards and sign-on bonus: $120k within 6 months. Looking at other L66 offers here on Blind people have gotten RSUs between $300-600k for the same level. We were told the reason why we didn’t get RSUs similar to other Microsoft folks was because we didn’t go through the interview stage that they did - we got acquired. At this stage, I am so flustered with the lowballed RSUs. I am interviewing for VP-level roles in startups where the RSUs are in the $800k-1.2m, and director roles in established companies with $600k in RSUs. I have been at Microsoft for a year now so have been paid some of that acquisition money already. Would you stay at Microsoft, or move ship to greener pastures? #tech #microsoft @microsoft
time to go and get that dosh, not like working at MS is going to be fun anyway
Move out of Microsoft
Oh boy - you will be let go soon. Look for a new job instead 🤦♀️
I’d roll, do something cool for two years and then watch MSFT offer you something in line with your abilities.
Easy.. Stay at MS until you find the one that matches/exceeds your criteria. You have the ability to be picky now with a job
I think that's a no-brainer, get out and get that sweet sign on bonus. Truth is Microsoft doesn't need to push hard for you to pull you in, they already acquired you
Do you have any better offers?
Keep interviewing, get offer with higher compensation, ask Microsoft to match the new offer or you change your job.
I guess your founders and investors sold you out. Your payout on options/rsu at acquistion was backed out of the offer.
I got a an LTI transition award by Microsoft which covered the unvested RSUs from the startup

Soft layoff
I doubt it. Multiple colleagues were not extended an offer to join plus I survived layoffs while many colleagues didn't when the gauntlet fell last month
This makes more sense! They’re like “be glad you still have a job”. In my opinion, take it for a year, get that bonus and MS tag on the resume while interviewing elsewhere and leave.
