Hi I got an interview for SDE at Redmond. I asked what the dress code is (business casual, etc.) but Recruiter said "wear whatever makes you comfortable!" So would a nice shirt and jeans work? Or what's advisable? Org is Office, if that helps. Thanks! TC: 200k
Nice shirt and jeans are good, yes
Thanks dawg, may God bless you with a hard cóck and a fat wallet.
Eww , what nasty comment
Shirt and jeans is good. Look fresh.
General advice to be dressed a tiny bit better than employees of the company. From what I see most employees are wearing tees and jeans, so nice shirt and jeans should be an elevated enough look.
Just be naked
Don't trust recruiter. Go business casual, first impression still goes a long way. FYI, Nice shirt and jeans is business casual.
May I ask which team in specific have you applied to ?
An IAM team.
Suit and tie is a must. Actually, the recruiter’s response is part of the interview. You are free to wear whatever you feel comfortable (but the team is also free to not hire you for lack of judgment) ;)
I feel the most comfortable with a pair of Jordans, knee-high socks, a headband, and a còck ring. Nothing else. Will that work?
Absolutely, DO NOT wear a suit to an eng interview at Microsoft. You will feel out of place. The interviewers might judge you negatively too.
Wear the Borat bikini to be considered a serious candidate. We don't hire people who fear the cold.
“Wear whatever makes you comfortable” should be read as “wear whatever makes you confident and is not over-the-top”. I was given the advice of “wear what you’d wear to a nice dinner with your SO’s parents” and that served me pretty well. Significantly under-dressing (sloppy) and significantly over-dressing (overcompensating) are a distraction for your interviewer and may be seen as a failure to identify the company culture. FWIW I wore chukkas, [non pleated] chinos, socks that match the pants (blue with blue, black with black, etc), nice [non-dress] belt, long sleeve button down shirt with sleeves rolled, stainless dive watch (underrated accessory - it’s not a good look to be using your phone for a clock while whiteboarding). Got a haircut 10 days before. Ever seen a professional athlete (basketball, hockey, etc) turn up to the arena on game day? Almost always in suits or looking otherwise well groomed. Embrace the spirit of the old Canadian hockey players’ game day mantra: “look good, [feel good,] play good”.
Thanks. I appreciate this answer the most.
Seems like your recruiter literally answered your question and you could follow up by asking about T-shirt and jeans but here you are on blind
It's ambiguous. And I specifically asked about business casual but she didn't answer directly. I can't follow up because the onsite is on Monday. Use your head and think critically why someone's asking before posting dumb shīt answers.
Nobody knows that your on-site is Monday until now. Maybe add all the relevant info first? What you wear is the least of your problems at this point.
