Just heard the devastating news. Laid off last year from a small company. Recruiter reached out last December for a Sr. SDE position. Had 4 interviews since then. Offer extended 1.29. Had an emergency family issue so had to go back to Korea. Delayed onboarding by 1 month. 1 week before the start date, was told that the position was eliminated and offer rescinded. TC: 0
I am so sorry that this happened to you.
Sorry it happened to you but you don’t go pushing off start dates for a months for “family emergencies” when you have already been unemployed that long.
🗑️ opinion
At last not with out expecting the offer to be rescinded. Call my opinion what ever you want, but here they are.
Brutal man I'm sorry
Fck MS
I'm so sorry. I hope you feel better and I hope you had lots of good food in Korea. you will find something else
Before delaying the joining, did you discuss it with HM? Was it a mutual decision to delay and then they rescinded the offer? Or they never agreed to delay joining and you delayed it anyway?
They even said they can delay my start date by 6 months.
Sorry but this is on you. If you started and the communicated the bereavement, you would be "protected". I'm puzzled on why someone who is unemployed cannot start today!
Was this a full time or contract role?
Never heard of msft rescinding before. wow.
Here we go again FFS 🤦♂️
