What kind of laptop does Microsoft give to new Azure engineering hires? Surface? Is Mac an option?
Lenovo thinkpad x1 or surface
I think only PM has surface
+1 have a surface
Very ugly and bulky SAW made by Lenovo for security reason. You need to insert your badge to login and 2 factor authentication to access prod for on-call duties. I was so disappointed that I didn't get surface and got the worst user friendly laptop when I joined MS. Trackpad sucks. Keyboard has worst layout and I'm never able to hit arrow keys and delete key without looking at the keyboard.
Yup. This. I asked about using a Mac and was told no.
Shit that’s scary
All Mac for designers
One personal laptop (which could be surface book, surface pro, Lenovo x1 carbon, hp elitebook) and one saw machine which is a huge ass Lenovo T460 laptop that feels like you’re carrying bricks in your bag I’ve seen the design team and teams that develop iOS/OS X apps using MacBooks but not regular SWEs
There are over 40 devices to choose from on //getdevices
I requested a Mac after I told manager I don’t like using Windows and can’t be productive
What did your manager say?
Now I use a brand new 15inch pro spec’d out lol
As with most questions of this nature, typically common sense prevails in a decision like this. If a Mac makes sense for you, your product, or your productivity: yes, you can get one.
I got an option to select MAC vs surface.
Man what team are you people in. I got a desktop and after so much requests, an old low config surface. Was told about budget constraints. Looks like I Neff to change a team to get these good laptops O.o

Thank you AAPL and NVDA
Not really. Very specific team would have a Mac. For example, someone who works on Microsoft office for Mac.
Totally not true. You can get a Mac as an engineer.
We not haters like Apple 🤣 We accept DIVERSITY
