I’m evaluating career paths. Can someone please help me understand the compensation breakdown and rough numbers for a principal management consultant position? At a top paying consulting firm, FAANG equivalent? Principal BCG/Director PwC/Associate principal McKinsey?
This article sums it up pretty well: https://managementconsulted.com/consultant-salary/
OP what's your current level at Meta?
MBBs usually fill their Principal positions with people that started as Consultants. By doing so they ensure you already know the company culture and processes. I think it is very unlikely for you to go straight from Meta into Principal or Engmt Manager at any MBB
Please don't go to consulting 1. They will most likely match your salary at best. I don't think they can do better. 2. Wlb is shit. At almost any level, you are expected to work longer hours and almost be online 24*5 if not 24*7 3. You will be a slave to the clients. If a client needs something by tomorrow, gotta deliver by tomorrow. 4. Most consulting companies have offshore teams. Welcome late night and early morning calls. 5. You are expected to travel often. While it might seem fascinating to begin with, it quickly starts taking a toll when you have been working long hours and don't have time to explore the city you are visiting.
