Management...?

Currently work in broadcast TV (I know, it's dying) but saw a management role at a different station that I actually started my career at. Never managed people, but know the operations, station, and have a business mindset. How do I sell myself to get this role? (and I worked with the 15 ppl before, when I was 22; I'd be their boss at 37. I'm currently a broadcast technician)

Going from never managing people to having a team of 15 direct reports is a big jump. Can you show how you’ve informally managed others through project or even volunteer work? Have you ever coached or mentored?

Yes mentored and coached martial arts. A couple of very early startups that weren't successful (obviously) but learned a ton. I know it's a crazy jump, but...

Do you still have connection there from when you started your career or other industry contacts you could talk to? They may be able to give you better insight into the role the team the challenges and how best to position yourself as a viable candidate
