During 1-on-1’s with your manger, what do you discuss? The ones with my manager are purely screen sharing progress reports and priorities (similar to stand ups), but curious as to how many people share this set up and if it’s a red flag or not that mine is set up this way. Blind tax: 175k #tech
Priorities, progress, any issues worth escalating, random chit chat for relationship building. I only bring up career development when there’s a thing I want to do or go to that aligns with my career goals. My 1:1s are weekly
Ask about bigger picture stuff and take the time to assess whether the rest of the work on your roadmap makes sense Identify action items that help yourself, your team, etc. Overall these meetings can be very effective if you look at them as: 1. How can I make your life easier? 2. How can you make my life easier? 3. Any things I can improve on? 4. Any things you can improve on?
