My last quarterly target included completion of 35 hours of training instruction which I successfully completed through an outside vendor. This quarter, my manager is asking me to sit for the certification exam for which I got the above mentioned 35-hour training. From what I know, this certification requires on average 100 hours of study, practice questions, and mock exams before one is ready for such an exam. He's asking me to put those 100 hours from my personal time and not on company's time. How should I respond to him, what are my possible options; any ideas?
CPA or CFA? Your post sounds like you’re not interested in getting this certification? Does getting this cert required for you to continue performing your duties? If not then your manager can’t force you to take the exam.
Neither
Is this some InfoSys shit?
Very vague description. I don’t get the intent at all. It could be either prepping you to get better or putting you thru hell for fun.
Prepping me to get better. And I've actually already gotten better in last few quarters, according to my manager. He's saying i shouldn't waste the time and money spent for the initial 35-hour training and sit for the exam now.
I like your manager
Who is paying for the trainings and exam?
Company
So what’s the problem?
Which certification ? Will it help if u change companies ?
I like working here..
Say no
The op is bitc*ing about spending personal time prepping for a certification that his company will pay for and could lead to more knowledge, recognition and possibly pay in the future? Man he has a jerk for a manager! How dare he try to make you better!
at Microsoft, many of us had to be certified by end of May which is a requirement of our job role.
Spend your time leetcoding instead and get a job at FANG++. You’ll be treated better than junk tier companies for sure.
Uhhhh... I don't know any company that will pay you to "study" for a certification. You're lucky that they paid for and paid you to do the previous 35 hour training course.
If you’re salary, it’s all company time.
