Hi, I need some help blind. My manager called me and said my position is no longer available and the funding for it is now gone. He made it clear it’s not because of performance. He gave me 2 options either be terminated or resign. What are the benefits to each and which should I chose. I appreciate all your help blind. EDIT: Can anyone refer me to roles in California? I graduated 2 years ago degree in CS from target school. Worked in sales though at IBM for a niche market of cyber security. Willing to relocate.
terminate with severance? terminate is easier to collect unemployment.
I can terminate or resign I will get the severance regardless but it’s only 2 weeks pay.
Cisco is talking about unemployment that the government can pay out till you find another job. Do not resign.
Make sure what is better in terms of health insurance and such
I think it’s the same
Don't resign. Collect the paycheck and let him do the work to fire you. I am a Manager and it's a ton of work for a layoff + possible several months severance package.
They are going to terminate me not a formal layoff
@OP , what's the difference
What? ...oh... IBM?
I have an OS I want to sell them
Do not resign, let them terminate you. If they terminate you, you can collect unemployment. Seems like your manager is not in your side this time. Fuck ibm!
This. If you resign you cannot collect unemployment.

Please put this in your main post.
Do not resign, force the layoff, get the severance. If you resign you get no unemployment benefit (not like that is enough to make up the difference, but it is something).
I’m so sorry this happened to you. Which BU and team? Your response may help others at IBM. Also, get terminated so you can get severance, don’t resign. Godspeed.
ask what the severance is for term. ask them to double it if you resign.
Don’t resign. I don’t think you would get severance if you resign.
He said he will make it so I do even if I resign.
Get it in writing.
