If my base is 130K (not including bonus & equity) what would that be in Spain (BCN) terms? thinking of relocating there down the road. yoe: 2
For what role is this? I guess that not for engineering, I would move if I had chance
Designer.
40 to 50k euro. If you’re lucky
There numbers I have seen in this thread (40 to 60k) would be for engineering roles (well paid engineering roles). I do not think that as designer you would get that unless it is in a director position or at least manager of a significant team. Barcelona is rather expensive inside Spain (still much cheaper than Bay area, Seattle our New York).
60K euros it's a really good salary in Spain so I would go for it.
Why Spain, not Italy or German?
Germans and Italians come to Spain because culturally is a happy country, value about socialize, amazing weather, amazing food. Healthcare is also renowned, amazing public transportation. Hopefully, extreme right party VOX doesn't win the next elections because it will screw up a lot of the good things Spain is well know.
Food, culture of socializing, culture, weather are great. Germany has none of that. More diverse and less corrupt than Italy.
If you get 60k euro there, can you save more than what you do here with $130k usd base ?
I have done that math a million times, it does not work out, but Spain had many other perks besides money
Yup. Thats what i am interested to know. Free kids education, free healthcare and what else? How is wage and sales tax? I think OP main feels he will be more comfortable in living there. He is not taking care of savings in account for this decision.
For designer...40k€
I live in Barcelona for the last 13 years. Front end development for the last 5 yrs. I think at the moment 40k will be difficult for designer, I have friends with experience in UX/UI design with salaries between 25-35k and never receives an offer more than that. The majority of companies are asking how much do you want before even considering you for the job. The recruiting is really fucked up. I am from eastern europe and it's difficult to reach a high paying job, most of the time is reserved for the locals (catalans). Don't confuse tourism with immigration :) There are a lot more things and not everything is what it seems to be. Spain is the country with highest unemplyment rate, competition is fierce and salaries for tech are one of the worst in Europe. Tax is 41%-45% of gross salary. Good schools are NOT free, I am paying 400 eur a month for the school for one kid.
If you need some help I can give more info, no problem, but the market is what it is.
60k euros. Why thinking of relocating to Spain?
Better quality of life. More humane values. US is messed up.
Why kind of humane values?
