Asking on behalf of a friend. Accepted a software engineer role at Mastercard and got an offer from Amazon. The total compensation difference is massive like 150K. Amazon is a better company from career growth perspective but Mastercard seems much more stable with much fewer layoffs and 0 change of getting pipped too. Does anyone know if Mastercard tracks renege or blacklists candidates? Any hiring manager (HM) or recruiter form mastercard here? TC 200K
If you decline , mentioning the difference in comp, they cannot blacklist you. In this industry no company can afford to blacklist an employee , especially Mastercard.
Mastercard is more stable compared to Amazon. Join there for 2 years and bounce
Mastercard is not more stable than Amazon. Amazon is better in all respects.

Why I Find Free Palestine Inspiring
Worked at both places. Amazon tech stack, competitiveness of peers, respect between team members etc are much better than at Mastercard. I found Mastercard employees not competitive enough , processes and pipelines immature and above all the benefits very poor compared to Amazon. Amazon on your resume looks much better than Mastercard. Amazon’s performance processes are exposed on Blind as there are so many employees to expose them. Mastercard has few employees and most not competitive enough to get another job. They all have bloated titles , easier promotions, more internal politics etc. They pay lesser for a reason. Amazon processes are well justified and you will learn a lot among very competitive colleagues.
Poor benefits? I thought 401K was good. Like health insurance?
No HMO plan or low/ shared deductible health insurance. Every plan offered is a high deductible HSA plan at Mastercard. Not only that, the way the HR and business works there is too far from Amazon’s. At Amazon, a PIP can be contested many teams to move to internally etc etc. Too many better things in Amazon than Mastercard. There is no comparison. Mastercard, in terms of benefits, is poorer than even small start ups I have worked for. DM me if you want more details.
