Hi there. Can someone provide what the McKinsey Engagement Manager pay is in terms of a base + bonus split?
Sounds about right. Associates are at around 200
TC is around 300k. It's all cash comp. People underestimate how awesome MBB consulting is.
Awesome in what way? I interned at MBB and it sucked. No autonomy even to decide when and what you eat, 4hrs sleep per night, bullshitting clients all day long with the things I found on google search. I suppose if you are a master bullshitter it could be ok.
Great exit opportunities, sick perks, work with really smart people, transferable business skillset, awesome comp.
How much do tech firms pay 3 years in for a PM job post MBA? Assuming thats the time required to make EM in consulting?
If you get promoted to the next level (equivalent of EM) it is around 300K total comp
2 years to make EM and then 2 years to principal and 3 to partner. Within 7 years of graduating from MBA, you'll be making $700k+.
Sure thing, and what's the expected pay at Amazon for a Sr. PM job post MBA 2yrs out?
~250-300
Any idea how much of that is cash and how much is stock?
McKinsey is a private company. It's all cash.
OP was asking about Amazon Sr. PM comp 2-3 years out
About 250-300 total for a McK EM. Fairly low when compared to tech comp, especially when taking in consideration that sw eng have much better work-life balance. Consulting starts paying really well at the partner level, but most don’t make it
Doesn't equity grow a lot too for tech firms? I mean I am pretty sure quite a few people got way richer in tech vs partners in consulting. For eg. Anyone who started at amazon 10yrs back post MBA is easily richer than most partners at MBB
US$ right?
Yes, quite possibly. Some partners really make a lot, though. That said, many people in tech make 300-400 or more. To get paid this much in consulting, you really have to work a lot and be fairly senior.
Can you maybe throw light on what you think is the high end of the high earning partners? I am asking because I am going to leave a high earning career and have the option of getting into one of consulting or tech, and would like to choose wisely.
Very senior partners can gross $2-3m+/year
I heard it's about 350.
Lol 😂
Jokes aside this is probably somewhat accurate
