I’m currently a director in Amazon. I recently got a partner offer from McKinsey. Should I take the offer? TC-750k #consulting #amazonaws #mckinsey

Tech managers are given too much power
Isn’t there a thing in consulting where if you are a partner for a while you get lifelong pension.
Those seem like radically different day to days. Seems like TC wouldn't be an issue either way, why would you not pick on which one you'd enjoy more? If it's a toss up go try something new, you can always boomerang. Is TC ballpark the same?
I think you will cap your growth if you switch to partner especially since TC is the same. In big tech you can aim for VP and essentially double your TC, before even accounting for stock growth. In consulting, partner is the ceiling and the comp, while high, also has a ceiling and it’s much lower than big tech. You shouldn’t be going back to MBB you should be jumping to Google, Meta, etc. for huge new hire equity grant or like Netflix for all cash. Or if you are on solid trajectory at Amazon aim for promotion there. I don’t see any reason to make a lateral comp move to MBB, not sure why you are considering it unless you hate your job
Senior Partner at MBB would absolutely double TC also
Partner is not the ceiling lmfao. Senior partner, managing partner of an office/country/region/global operations, etc And many P/SP level folks move to join as C level execs at their clients
I don't know very well amazon form WLB perspective, for I bet McKinsey is way worst. Also doing consulting-shit-shallow-work when you have a family is challenging, you will travel a lot ...

Partners don’t suffer like consultants lol
You should not be on blind 😱
If you have ambitions to become csuite somewhere, then McKinsey. WLB will likely be worse there, and you'll have a sales target too.

Lol seriously? Ofc Mckinsey since you worked for the firm before which means you know how much bonus money partners make. Idk if 700k is only base but that’s junior AP level (sometimes JAP makes more depending on practice and office) and partners makes way more than that. Even wlb is a lot better than asc and em
McKinsey partner no question
Nope. Not even close.
Amazon unless you have an MBA
I have an MBA from M7.
