Does anyone have McKinsey experience to share? What’s the challenges to get from Principal to Partner? What’s the compensation structure and culture there? I am researching on opp with McKinsey in Asia - they claim to have a lower pay, how much lower? I have 10+ yrs in Tech, IT Delivery, Scaled Agile, Project/Program Mgmt.
Partners have to be able to sell ultimately. The absolute best are able to blend true functional and/or vertical expertise for a significant function/domain + highly structured thinking + ability to sell/charm. Good luck, few rarely are able to perform at this level
Partner TC?
I real hate management consultants
There is no principal position at Mckinsey. Its Associate, Engagement Manager, Associate Partner, Partner, Senior Partner. Role. Usually 2 years about in each role. Depending on where you start 2-3 years before next level. So basically 2 review cycles. Challenges - you need to love serving clients, managing clients, and be able to do close team collaboration. Also, make connections with people Pay - at partner level it is lot of cash plus some equity equivalent thing. You can make upwards of 500K to 1M dollars. And comp is same roughly for partners all over the world with some adjustments for the country. So its no way lower pay
That’s insightful. What would be the comp package for Engagement Manager? I was told there would be a big gap for any role between US and Asia Pacific. True for McKinsey?
If you like traveling a lot and long hours, the best way to get to Partner is to have endurance I worked at Deloitte once upon a time ago
How was working at Deloitte like
