Which firm do you think provides a better career trajectory? Both roles are related to data analytics. TC is roughly the same for each at 140. YOE 2 #tech #apple #mbb #consulting #mckinsey
McKinsey will be better if you want strategy in long run Apple if you are engineering , otherwise just a name
McKinsey is dogshit. Consulting companies are same tier as banks for tech. Shit tier.
McKinsey is garbage
putting a consulting company against an absolutely elite faang juggernaut like Apple? 😂😂😂 embarrassing to even mention Mckinsey in the same breath as 🍎 🍏
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
One of my good buddies works at McKinsey absolute dog shit wlb. And a large part of his job his networking to get internal projects lmao
Don’t compare apples to oranges .. both are best in different worlds.. choose your world ..
Let me tell you this. I’ve seen so many mckinseys begging to enter FAang, but I don’t know anyone today jumping from FAang to McKinsey
I used to think consulting was a hotshot track, but then realized McKinsey is just a lot of bs. Plus the WLB is terrible
Jesus the hate for MBB on Blind is palpable OP clearly asked what is the best for career trajectory MBB will always be king here. If you want to get to the top role and earn consistent 7 figures in less than decade this is the place. If you care for WLB do not leave tech Nonetheless this is only valid for consulting track. Anything else and you won’t be as valued And for those that are going to try to argue. $450K TC 5YoE at LCOL. Exit offers at Dir / Sr. Dir
Blind hates MBB way too much for some reason. Tech is definitely not the best role at McKinsey. But it's a role that allows you to move to tech at any time if you don't like the environment unlike traditional consulting path. I'd talk with both the teams directly about the kind of work for short time. McKinsey allows you to work across various industries, at the least in first few years. It forces you to grow personally and in soft skills.I'd be careful if the role is Data Analyst, growing into analytics engagement manager role might be hard. Working hours might be bad depending on the project and how good you're at setting boundaries. I can't speak about anything about Apple. Simply said it's not black or white. If I had to pick one at gunpoint, I'd say it's Apple. If I get the sentiment here right, tech companies allow you to grow at a pace you're comfortable with. McK is good if you could stay put for 6-8 years and grow in the ladder into analytics engagement manager, but it's not a given. McK allows you to move up the ladder quickly but it comes at the cost of WLB.

Any Indians Think Kashmir Should be Independent?
McKinseys just pretend to know something while they don’t. It’s a good paid job with a very bad WLB. The company’s core culture is to bs whenever they can. I will leave you to judge if that’s the place
That bs at M will become much helpful in the long run if you switch to tech companies and consider office politics, portion, promotion, argument, negotiation, etc. Pave your way to CEO. I prefer rest and vest, and only do my own stuff though
It’s very rare that a higher up person at Faang only went to McKinsey with absolutely no tech background. By the end of the day you still have to jump from McKinsey to FAang and why not right now? As PO landed the role, internal transfer will be a lot easier to lead to a strategy role if PO ever wants that path. I am not even considering the apple stock appreciation throughout the tenure.
