I've been offered a position at McKinsey Digital. What's the work-life balance like specifically here? Also, how important is it to be in new york for the job? I'm given a choice to work from any other office in US and I'm considering Boston or Seattle since I'm already here, but I don't want to miss out on networking or mentioning opportunities too much once offices open up.

How much is YoE ? What is TC etc. In short Mck Digital Analyst is not worth. But if you work at Wayfair, the benefits may attract you.
YOE 1.5 I'll be joining as a Sr digital analyst TC 140k Why is not worth it in your opinion?
I just hired a full stack developer at my current employer, and we offered 135K base and 250K RSUs. At Mckinsey, get ready to get 2 to 3% increments and first promotion in may be in 3 years. Dont know what is your role at Wayfair, but if you are a developer, just aim for Google, Facebook, Netflix et. al. There is nothing in Consulting. Its facade.
I’m in Digital, and I don’t find the hours that long or that bad. I wouldn’t worry about networking or about connections—you will meet plenty of people while on studies. I imagine that the cost of living is lower in Seattle than in Boston or NY, so I’d stay there.
The point is, there is no career at Mckinsey. Its a thankless job, no learning. Unless you join as a generalist, you would NOT grow, forget about becoming a Partner for at least next 15 years. Firm is all about generalists, all these other roles are supportive. I left the firm 1 year back as a Partner, affiliated to DnA, after 14 years at the firm I realized I could have done much better. Today I am at A high tech manufacturing company with better career prospect and Pay.
Why do you say there's no learning/growth?
Because its true ! Mckinsey is a strategy consulting company, its all about strategy, digital tech transformation is second fiddle. If you are an engineer or an architect, Mckinsey is going to be a shitty experience unless you can learn to spend 14 15 hours and your weekends creating million of slides only to be thrown in the trash after Partners and Senior partners unnecessarily remark all over it. Sorry to say, I have done it with so many analysts, Associates, EMs and APs. Remember, you only grow in Integrative path, not anywhere else.

What role with McK? In general the WLB will depend on the study you are staffed on but on average expect it to be pretty bad. Working for less than 12-13 hrs a day will be an exception rather than the norm. If WLB is important McK is not for you. Regarding location, you will tend to go into the office only on Fridays when you are staffed. Mon-Thu will be at the client location. So networking is possible with your office colleagues on Fridays whichver office you are based in. New York is a large office, so will meet a lot more people. Seattle office is lot smaller.
I'm offered the role of digital analyst at mckinsey digital. But wow 12-13 hours everyday sounds intense. How important is it to network in general? If I can make it to NYC one Friday a month is that good enough?
How many YOE do you have? An analyst role at McK is for new grads. I am not at all exaggerating but in most studies, 12 hrs is a good day! So if you wrap up work by 9pm, you have done well. if you are traveling, this means you will get dinner with colleagues or hit the gym and just order food in your room. But there are exceptions, usually digital transformation studies where you are well into implementation will have a better lifestyle. If you are not part of the NYC office, you won't ever need to go there and network. Networking is important as that is what will get you the good studies and the relationships are key.
