Can someone please explain the difference between System Design / Product Architecture round at Meta and what was the focus of discussion in the interview?? Recruiter says API is the main focus. But I see people posting comments that it is just like a regular interview. It is so confusing. Need some guidance. Anyone who attended this round recently or an interviewer from Meta… pls help a brother out! TC: 200 k YOE: 7 #interview #layoff #systemdesign #productarchitecture
I've never done the systems design but have done the product design. Most recently last month. It's the typical design a chat system type of interview. Also the API is not the main focus. My recruiter said that too and it was not the case. Only one time, 6 years ago, the guy asked me to design the schema for a Facebook timeline post.
Its stupid. I opted for system design and my background is in data infrastructure and distributed systems. But I was asked problem to design a mobile client library for http dowloader. It was low level library design problem considering mobile client !!
Lol classic FB. Interviewing with random questions that give the wrong signals and hiring randomly because of it. There’s a reason they fire so many people, they hire based on garbage and misrepresent the job at all point
Its shares some similarities with sys design with more emphasis on the API, protocols, data formats and what not

Everything seems great with this guy, except basic attraction. What to do? My friends say it’s no big deal
