How serious is it when the hiring managers says 18 months you can go full remote, or talk with recruiter on potential exception to rule. I am technically only thinking of joining Meta on this one singular clause. I have another remote offer but willing to sacrifice for the 18 month rule. If not I want to negotiate remote with recruiter TC: 278K L5 Meta: E4 Offer still in team matching
How much do you believe the hiring manager will follow through or that he even can deliver on that promise? Maybe an EM can weigh in here, but I wouldn’t count on it.
how come they won't offer it on day one but are offering it in 18 months?
New company policy for most hires
will it also be written into your contract that you get remote after 18 months? If not, no guarantee that they will honor this
I would take the other remote role. Any HM or recruiter from Meta can promise anything, and I doubt that with them becoming a PIP factory like Amazon that you’ll likely make it to the 18 months or that they’ll even honor it after that time. I wouldn’t bank on them honoring that, and would stay away. Good luck! TC: 105K
Are you getting it in writing with zucks blood? No? Move on.
Focus on what you can control
Not gonna happen
It’s not entirely up to the EM. Current rules say it has to be part of your org’s “location strategy” and VP has to sign off on each case. Many large orgs do not have remote as part of their location strategy. Also, 18 months is eons at Meta so who knows what the policy will be. tl;dr it’s impossible to guarantee it at 18 months, no one knows what the long-term plan is
EM mentioned Remote is part of their location strategy
If you don’t get it in writing, don’t do it
Dude how many posts are you going to make about meta? Please don’t join
lol 1. it’s anonymous, 2. I’m having to actually have to make real life decisions lol.
@OP don’t be surprised when you get screwed over …if they don’t give it now, why will they give it in 18months ? If remote is important to you , go with the offer that gives you that. Haven’t we learned anything in the past two years about companies making empty promises
