If I 'complete' both questions, but the first one was only 95% right, and the second one was better than brute force but not most optimal, do you think I passed? To me, it felt like 60% chance passed. Also, if you get 'lean no hire' or meta similar for one of the coding interviews and then you crush the other one, is that a fail or offer?
You must be perfect and a bit bettr
What matters is more how deep you took that bar in
Here take a look at this comment. Getting to the optimal solution is good but not make-or-break. It’s more important to have a good discussion with the interviewer and have any working solution at all as long as you can talk about time/space complexity. https://www.reddit.com/r/leetcode/s/VoaUwlNENJ
Unfortunately no not at Meta. It's a 0-1 thing here. Especially if you are interviewing for <= L5
Failed
There's a lot of flexibility with other interviews but not the coding one. Sorry OP.
I interviewed L6 and I did marginally better than you. I did state what the optimal solution was, just my coding efficacy was too low. I received an offer. I believe below L6 it's going to be hard to pass. Coding below L6 is basically the majority of the reason to hire someone or not. Supply/demand dictate near perfection
Hard no. Too many candidates who can solve correctly and optimally
