Folks, I have recently got an offer from Meta and got the receipt notice for H1 B on last Friday (March 22). My start date is April 8th, not sure if I can get H1 B approval by April 1st (need to give notice period). Is it safe to work on receipt notice rather than approval notice? Starting early means risk on H1B and starting late means risk on my offer. Please help what to do here. Tc: 280k Edit: Next start date is 29th April. H1 B is under premium processing. #software #visa #h1b

Why is starting late by a week or two is such a big deal? Did they tell you that you would lose the offer if you delay the start date?
Next start date is April 29th. Not sure if I should wait that much.
Is it premium processing?
Yes
I am hoping you will get the response from USCIS before 1st April so don't worry. In case you don't get approval before 1st April, don't give one week notice, just start on 8th April. Companies don't care about you when they layoff so don't worry about the notice period just tell them as soon as you get the approval even it's less than one week.
Next start day is 4/29??? Really? Didn’t they have people started every week? When did you ask the recruiter? When I started they can start any week
Yeah it’s a weird thing. They dont have slots for previous weeks
Oh got it. Might be the orientation slot is full
mind asking what yoe/lvl?
What's the normal noticing period7? one week or two week
How many years at Apple? Won’t you be losing the 04/15 vest?
I would double check if they are even transferring H1B. I heard Meta isn’t anymore
postpone asap. There are no slots for april month. You'd be joining in may.
Really? May I ask how do you know?
I was in similar position
Don’t lose your vest period 4/15. Don’t leave money on the table….
Sorry for somewhat unrelated question - Are you in Apple US already? Or have you interviewed to Meta from abroad and they filed H1B for you?
M in apple us
