Currently in Houston (LCOL). This is the first time for me to deal with FAANG. I shared my other offer from Expedia already and Got initial numbers from Meta. I didn't bluff on the competitive offers and shared the actual figure. ( I feel this was a huge mistake ?). Then the recruiter just matched with the other offer and not even offered Signon. I feel like I am not getting an average package and the recruiter is not ready to negotiate on these initial numbers. What are the options for me to get something better than this from Meta ? Two different locations Bay Area v/s Seattle. Where WA is state-tax free as TX but CA has state tax. I read mixed reviews about both the locations. Totally confused what should be the next step for me. #meta #offer #lowball
So you shared your other offer before even getting anything from meta and they offered you 80k more ..
My mistake is what I feel
Not a mistake. You got the standard L4 offer, you would have gotten the same even after inflating the other offer by up to $80k
First of all, why should they give you higher than your other offers? As a way to rephrase my question, are you willing to walk away if they don’t increase it? If you aren’t then you have no leverage. FWIW, I earned much less when I was an IC4
I was thinking that they should give as per their standards and I should be honest with them about what I have.
First rule of negotiation. Never give numbers first.
Lowballed. This should be $150K more!!
No it shouldn’t. E4 is mid-level at meta (equivalent to amazon L5). Nobody right now is paying 450k for mid-level lmao.
There are E4s making 450k, but only bc of insane RSU appreciation not bc they were hired at that
That’s a solid E4 offer
I don’t see meta as very stable long term- tbh. All the chopping they’ve been doing and still doing. But Idk. I could be wrong. And not sure how Expedia has fared in that area. So many quiet layoffs we don’t hear of.
The chopping was for shareholders not business outlook. The company is printing money (and wasting it too)
Some small quiet layoffs but nothing major. I expect a few more folks will get laid off this quarter at least.
“Dear recruiter, here’s my very weak negotiating position as requested.” Quick browse of levels.fyi shows a few recent comparable offers. Just interview with Amazon and get a solid competing offer
Amazon is barely hiring externally
Amazon is not going to give a competing offer at OP's level
Confused on your Expedia offer here— we don’t have annual bonuses. Aside from that, pretty great sign on given that we’re pretty much on a hiring freeze.
The recruiter told me it's 15% annually.
There is no bonus here. Confirm again
Did you pick product design track or system design track for meta onsite?

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
You can usually get a sign on by asking. But otherwise it seems like a solid l4 offer?
I see people are generally getting $400-450k RSUs.
