Got reached out by a recruiter. Is this role same as Software engineer, ML? What's the interview process like? From what I've read on Blind: Phone: 2 lc questions Onsite: 1 behavioral, 2 lc rounds, 1 ML design, 1 normal system design. Is this correct? I don't have ML experience, idk why recruiter thought i am a good fit. I did fail software engineer track last year tho. Tc 200 3 yoe
Hey OP. Some of my friends got contacted as well. Some of them have a little bit of ML related experience. From what they learned from recruiters was that the only difference is in the System Design round. Behavioral may contain some scrutiny of your ML background as well, while you speak about your projects and experience.
Ohh thanks. Do you mean in the SD round, they ask different types of problems? Normally it's about design live comment, newsfeed, etc.
Correct. SD round would be more along the lines of designing recommendation system and other ML concepts. This is what they were told.
The recruiter is the person who should tell you what rounds are expected. If they're not telling this, then they aren't doing their job properly.
I have scheduled for a phone call next week, i just wanted to find out in advance 😁 I thought they are freezing
Update: not a good fit since they need someone with 5yoe in ML. Don't know why they reached out to me.
Something similar happened with me. I wanted to get into mle role but they didn't move ahead with interviews because I don't have ml experience. Just academic ml work. Ultimately they scheduled e4 swe rounds. This was before the hiring freeze so even the swe round didn't complete.
When did u have the call with recruiter?
If you're on the job hunt and eyeing ML roles at TikTok, drop me a DM. There's no need to send me any resume, but if you've faced rejections and would like feedback on your resume, I'm here to help with that too. Just upload your resume on Google Drive and share the link. #severance #layoff #hiring #resume #ml
What is the exact title of the role they reached out for? MLE == Software Engineer, Machine Learning
They said Machine Learning opportunities.
that’s strange they didn’t give an exact role name. Could be data science, could be data eng, could be MLE. Ask recruiter what the title is. If MLE, it’s the loop you described in OP.
