Wanted to ask if any folks here know the Meta rehire policy for laid off employees. I believe you can get back into Meta and skip some interviews if you are able to find a position you qualify for within 1 year after your departure from the company. Is that true? Is the departure date considered the day you were laid off or your separation date? I would appreciate any details you can provide. I was laid off in November '22 during new hire orientation (IC3 SWE) and separated in January '23. Is Meta even planning to hire IC3 next quarter? Trying to find an escape route from my current job because my manager is toxic and I am at risk of getting laid off next round. But, I just don't see many jobs for new grads right now in the market and I feel stuck. YOE: 0.5 TC: 100k #tech #meta
Why don’t you apply and let Meta decide? There is no cool off policy for impacted employees. Just that they’re only hiring E5+ currently
That's the problem, E5+ hiring seems to be a thing not just at Meta but everywhere. Meta seemed to be the only company I had a decent shot at getting back into since I previously worked there but I guess not.
If you interview within 6 months, it’s just a behavioral interview, which is easy to pass. Hiring committee will mostly look at PSC in that case. I’ve heard 6-12 months requires full loop, but your previous rating will have a heavy impact. Ie if you were mm or tnte, it will be hard to pass hc.
You’re likely ineligible for rehire until Feb 2024. Still very unlikely until Feb 2025
So, is there a 1 year cool down period between separation and rehireability?
There was someone posting on blind a month or two ago about how they got rehired at Meta after being laid off. Now, they were higher level, I think E6, but still, it should be at least theoretically possible
