Very excited to get this offer after a lot of ups and downs. Targeted E5 but got down levelled after the interview. This is a verbal offer and the initial numbers were lower than what I expected. But I was always targeting E5 level and thereby that TC. No joining bonus as of now and will need to negotiate it. Rounded of the annual bonus/refreshers to 10%. How much more can I reasonably ask for? MS has great wlb. But lately the LT has turned it into a 🥜 factory- not much raises. The promo tc increase is laughable. You might as well spend your energy elsewhere for higher 💰 Updated: Final offer - 310k TC per year + 30k joining bonus What do you guys/gals say? Yoe: 5
Ask for 50k more
Like sign on? That's the only one I can negotiate at this time
yes my sign on was 50k
Ask for sign on. Easy 50k there. I got l4 Sde last year. It was 380k for first year and then around 320
Will try. What's your TC breakdown?
Good job men. Just want to ask do you have system design in your interview ?
Yes
Men ?
Prep details?
I have put my SD prep in an other comment. Please refer to that. For coding, it's almost all leetcode. Did the top 70ish from fb tagged. Also, neetcode 150 was a good list that I tried to target. Just try covering all topics broadly. Unfortunately, the more you do, more chances of doing better. I did about 160 qs in a span of 2 months. One thing that helped me do better- I solved the question on local Vs code editor and tried running through use cases manually. This made my practice similar to coding on coderpad that many companies use. The idea is to basically assume you only have a question on your ide and solve without any figures or detailed info. LC question part is too detailed with fancy figures and test cases. In a real interview, you need to come up with all these. Hope this helps.
Were the questions you got at Meta very similar to the ones you had practiced?
Were your questions for onsite on tagged list?
op reply on this?
3/4 from tagged
Do you need a competing offer to negotiate your offer? Congrats on your offer!
Yes. Or pretend like you have one
Is that legal ? What if they ask for the offer letter ?
How did you prepare for the system design, op?
I prepared grokking for interviews a couple years back. But this time I went through Alex xu 1&2 along with YouTube videos of companies talking about architecture. You can see meta, Uber and hotstar talking how they scaled. Along with that, you can also go through design channels - Gaurav sen, exponent, Narendra L, byte byte go, Jordan has no life, System design interview, system design Flight club. These guys are super good and sometimes makes me feel guilty of watching it all for free. I joined discord servers of Alex xu and the guy who created blind 75(I guess). Gave mocks with senior folks who were interested in mutual interviews and that helped a lot. On top of all this, I referred to Ddia for concepts that I didn't understand. Like replication algos etc.. But didn't go deep. It might sound a lot and even I'm surprised I pulled off all this. But if this is spread over a 2 month time, you should be good
Thanks for sharing !
Congrats on the offer OP. How did your system design interview go? Also, were the leet code questions mediums? and one question per round or two?
Refer to other replies that I answered please
Meta pays well, but not a great place to work if you want to learn tech and not optimize psc. Can get promoted fast, but it’s pretty competitive since most people like to grind hard. I made a similar leap from a different fang company a couple years ago, and regretted the decision.
Thanks. Willing to take a shot. Let's see 🤞
If u are going in my tip is to try to learn how optimize for psc early. If you plan ahead early and figure out the tasks/projects you need to hit every half to do well on each axis (depends on level) then you are good. Otherwise you might get headaches when you get busy and are still missing points on psc. You have to be much more independent compared to other big companies to make sure you get the right projects. Since the right project could dictate what rating you get.

What do you think is wrong with a kid who got rejected by 9 colleges?
Meta for career growth. How long did it take to hear back after the onsite?
Onsite to offer took about 2 weeks
Thanks! Took 2 entire weeks to hear back about the result as well? Curious since I’m in the same situation
