I was so surprised to hear friends at Meta laid off new grads during that were in their bootcamp. They literally couldn’t show their worth during bootcamp… I wonder if this was common and if they really laid off a bunch of new grad ppl in their bootcamp or new grads that worked < 5 months. Whats worse are offers for new grads rhat were rescinded. They don’t even get severance, and more importantly, probably stop looking for other opportunities after signing their offer.

I think it may be team or department dependent. I know a recent bootcamp grad that was told they are safe.
All new grads I know were laid off, some of them even joined last week..
It's pure business! None personal.
What’s boot camp? Are these employees have already been hired?
On their start date, they do one month of bootcamp which allows them to explore other teams and opportunities from my understanding. You dont just start on a specific team. Thus, ppl who were laid off couldnt rlly show their worth.
OP it isn’t about their worth. It is about business. The laid off people are not worthless.
Campers got booted, in the wrong direction.
Can they keep joining bonus and get severance too?
Wondering the same. Dont want to ask friend so soon.
Sure, why not. They didn't resign or quit
OUCH! Maybe they’ll be able to find a new job.
New grads are worthless any way
The more i think about it, it makes sense since their severance will also be worth less. And they much rather keep employees with more experience.
How much severance did bootcampers get vs tenured folks?
Not sure, i don’t want to ask my friend so soon. Ill let you know when i find out
4 months on payroll and additional 2 weeks
