I’m joining Meta soon and will be working from the downtown Bellevue location. Can anyone working there share what the office space is like? What’s the food like? Is parking available and free? I’m wondering if driving to work is a realistic plan.
Congrats and welcome! When I started, it initially showed that I'd be downtown Bellevue but that's just the default in the system. I'd actually forgotten all about that default location until I saw this post. It doesn't show up in any of the internal tooling (like the cafeteria site that shows menus) so I'd be surprised if we hadn't already given up the lease on that downtown location. Spring District parking is free but can get pretty full if you arrive after 9pm on Tuesdays. We're leasing the garage space of a nearby building that is still under construction though so there's still plenty of parking. There's also tons of bike parking + showers in every building. Cafeterias serve breakfast until 10am. There's always eggs, bacon, potatoes, tater tots, chicken sausage, spinach, tortillas, and one special breakfast entree that changes daily. (eg shakshuka, eggs benedict, etc) There's also oatmeal, congee, toast, bagels, and all kinds of toppings, fruits, and one or two pastries to choose from. Lunch is served from 12:00-2:00pm at most cafeterias and is different every day, though some cafeterias always have pizza, roast beef, chicken, and tofu no matter what day it is. Salad bars as well, sometimes with salmon or bacon available as toppings. The rotating daily menu follows a theme (eg Jamaica, Fish and Chips, Tunisia, Pan Africa, Date Night are the themes each day this week) and we're back to having 2 different protein entrees each day (it was down to 1 for a while post-layoffs). tl;dr: you're probably working in the Spring District and the food's great.
Any dinner?
Mon-Thurs dinners. Mon-Wed starts at 6pm, but Thursday is happy hour so it starts at 5pm instead. Happy Hour dinners are more snack-ey though, and are mostly the same thing each week. I've never been to a non-happy-hour dinner because I have a kid, but the menu says tonight's dinner was: Roasted carmelized pork loin with spinach and grilled seasonal fruit, Grilled steelhead with pickled blackberry, Spiced lentils with seared tofu and mixed herb pesto, Roasted mushroom mac & cheese, Steamed squash, Roasted broccoli with salsa verde, Steamed quinoa, Kimchi potato poutine, Moroccan soup, Pozole birria, and Winter citrus cake for dessert
