Received an offer from Meta, but wanted to join another company. Currently, does Meta honor the offer for up to a year? Or only the hiring committee results is valid for up to one year? Or nothing will be valid after they hear that I will accept another company? Any insight will be appreciated. #meta #swe
Ask recruiter?
Why did you sleep with them?
And what would your plan be if not asking recruiters? Go to Zuck and tell him that Blind told you the offer was valid?
Why would an offer be valid for a year if you declined it. Business needs change so do comp structures. You may be eligible for reconsideration but you’d likely have to renegotiate
Makes sense
Once declined offer becomes invalid, previously they’d let you change joining date twice (i think) and you could postpone it upto a year from date of offer, a notification was sent to recruiter but it wasn’t a concern, this was true when you’d go into bootcamp and hiring was generic, but they’re hiring a lot more team specific now backfilling positions or for new teams from scratch in which case there’s no bootcamp and less possibilities of re-scheduling joining date.
when did they stop bootcamp? damn that was a cool concept
Since we became Amazon
Nothing will be valid once you decline offer and join another company. I will be surprised if any big company will skip any step for future hire once you decline offer.
I know Airbnb honors the results for 1 year so wonder if Meta can do the same
That would be strange. Companies are free not to honor results from one week prior, if so they decide. Keeping an offer valid for one year would makes no business sense.
This one year validity was when these companies were on a growth path and they couldn’t find enough people to hire. Aka the overhiring frenzy Now, they are hiring for specific open roles which if not filled by 1 year will fall off open head counts. This may change again who knows.
OP, just wondering if you may be confused between role being put on hold against your will (i.e., there's a hiring freeze so they can't hire you but they will once the headcount opens up again) vs you putting offer on hold at will?
Lol no. Once the role is filled within the team, they don't need you anymore.
how long after onsite did you hear back?
I can hold on to your spot and give it back to you when you’re ready.
