Meta hiring again. Why would they lay off and hire people again. Isn't lack of leadership? #tech
I see these postings for same role but different places a lot, and for different companies too, are they all just 1 single job but they put it out in different locations so people in different hubs see them, but there’s really only 1 job open?
Correct. One opening but it can be filled in a variety of locations. So shows up multiple times. LinkedIn is guilty of posting it several times for each location.
Yeah they post the same job for each potential location on LinkedIn If you look directly at metas career portal it's just 1 posting and then you select whatever locations you would do
Meta is hiring again, a friend just got an offer. And totally agree, why fire so many to just rehire in the next month or two
They fire people and hire people with lower TC.
This is exactly what’s happening. I was talking with a chief people officer for an interview and they were not shy in saying they are taking the opportunity in this job market to upgrade their staff (meaning getting rid of low performers and upgrading to high performers assuming for a better cost value).
Yup. They took a chance on a lot of candidates 2020/2021. Not all bets pay out.
Lay off the low performers or less lucrative business units and hope to replace with higher performers and/or add headcount to more lucrative business units
And for less pay because the market sucks.
I’m 6YOE and I’m still getting plenty of opportunities coming my way. Pay isn’t really lower, there’s just way less volume than last year.
Stock price. Hire when the stock is near the top.
Zuckerberg said in investor call some roles were laid off so they could re-hire different skills and experience levels they actually needed going forward.
This is nothing new - it is a normal practice everywhere - why are you surprised?
Don't you follow the stock price?
It’s called a TC reset. Why is this so hard to understand? The tech industry is a copycat industry and whenever there is an opportunity to save via layoff and resetting comp, that’s what’ll happen.
Job posting != hiring. Many companies do this to meet visa requirements so the gov let’s them open h1 jobs down the road. Jpmc especially does this
They are hiring, indeed. I’m on virtual onsite.
Many companies do this to gauge the market as well with no intention of hiring.
