I just heard from Meta recruiter that Meta won’t intend to sponsor H1B, only H1B transfer. I’m currently on a TN-1 visa. Is this true? TC: 235k YOE: 4 #workvisa #h1b #tnvisa
Kinda hard to do the necessary DoL approval of a role requiring H1B applicants when you have been laying off big numbers of qualified employees. Between WARN Act restrictions and the Layoffs being a bad look with DoL and the still ongoing GC pause with USCIS its gonna be a long while before Meta gets new immigrant worker approvals. Even if you are transferring H1B then your path to GC is not at Meta…. for TN visa you will not be moving to H1B at Meta also. Fun times….. for you the search and interview process goes on.
Op meant h1b, not GC
@bello674 is gc processing is still blocked at meta? I heard it’s resolved now?
Why do you need an H1B? Can't you TN it out forever?
Perhaps max 4 terms
They go apeshit if you try to do a 4th
Very stupid to move from TN to H1B
Why ? H1b is better than tn
Reasons?
Amazon stopped sponsorship for Cloud Support Associates.
Can you elaborate? They stopped what exactly? H1B for L4 CSAs?
H1B lottery sponsorship is stopped. That's what I'm aware from a close friend. Unsure if it'll resume or it's permanent (mostly latter)
Good.
Fresh H1B is such a pain. All companies will stop applying moving forward to avoid the overhead costs and efforts for 3-5 years
Going through H1b lottery is time consuming and with increased number of applicants is risky. Why would a company waste 12 months on employee and then lose them for lack of H1b. If meta is still doing transfers, it means they are looking to cut the risk of lottery, which more often than not applies to fresh graduates.
The days of H1B are over. I hope my shitty ex boss is screwed royally by this and gets deported. Also, a lot of H1B bring bad sl*ve like work culture to a team. Hopefully this triggers a reset and healthy wlb.
You think companies will spend more money hiring local? The first thing they will do is move more work outside of the us because it’s cheaper until is too late and you do not have control of your product and have to work 24/7 because you need to keep talking with people all over the globe
Maintenance work probably. But product development will never leave the US. Core engineering work will be done stateside
Good.
Layoff means no more
