Meta still hiring contractors!

I just got approached by a recruiting agency for a contract position for TPM at Meta. Is Meta still hiring contractors? Should I be leary about this? YOE 8 TC - 🥜 (laid off) #tech #hiring #layoffs #meta

Given most budget cuts to agency contracts have been executed, anything being recruited for now is likely safe and aligned to *current* priorities. That’s not to say it won’t get deprioritized in these next 2 months as the re-orgs happen, so there’s still risk. How much do you need the money right now since you were laid off? If you’re in a bind, take it; if you have a good chunk of savings and can survive, I’d pass until this layoff wave is complete.

When is this layoff phase happening/ completing? I’m taking a contractor told because I need work.

Also got a reach out for a Meta contract role and see a lot of open ones listed on their site. Mostly for Realty Labs roles, hard pass

Which agency is this?

Y’all do yourself a favor and laugh those outreaches off literally.

Definitely don’t entertain it. I also had a search firm reach out for a contracting role at meta this week (and I’m still here).

I’d be leary about anything right now

Yeah I wouldn’t consider it but do you!

Because they can still show off the layoffs to Wall Street.

I’m currently a contractor for Meta with my contract ending soon, I decided not to extend it. During both layoffs the agencies were totally clueless and so will continue recruiting since it’s in their best interest to, not yours. Meta are doing a huge restructuring right now, so I would pass on it if you can do without the money.

Also agencies have been advertising roles (job descriptions) completely different to what the actual job is in a desperate attempt to get people to join - be careful of this too!

The only time I’d say yes to a contract role at Meta is if you’ve never worked at a FAANG company. Being a contractor was necessary for me to skyrocket into my career.

When you were interviewing for companies, after Meta, working as a contractor, did people look down because you were a “contractor” at Meta?

Meta itsap0 Mar 16, 2023

No 😂 I actually got tons of interviews with Netflix, Amazon, and TikTok!
