Passed the interview for E6 this week and started the team match process. Don't mind working long hours but good team culture and manager are really critical. Worked on mostly backend and infra in the past. Any advice on which pillar to choose or to avoid? No offer details before team match. Current TC ~400k at L5 #meta #teammatch
How hard was the interview
It was OK, for system design, prepare to be asked a lot of details. Coding questions are typical leetcode tagged questions with slight variance, no time to think as you need to solve two questions per coding interview in ~35 mins, so need to familiar yourself with all the Meta tagged questions.
Cool appreciate the insight have my interview coming up. For system design are we talking caries, lbs, api design, db pros and cons etc?
YOE?
10 in total, 8 years at Google, 3 years at L5
Congrats bud. I generally feel infra side is a safer bet. I have seen ppl grow crazily on products side. But it seems you have to be right place right time. I have a loop coming up. Can I DM?
How about your degree?
Master
Similar situation. During team matching. I just learned meta RSU is calculated based on average of the month before you join. If I knew earlier I would push for faster team matching to get Jan RSU price but unfortunately need to wait for next month with high Feb price.
No one can predict the stock price. I would probably wait a bit longer and join later
I knew the January average stock price on Feb 1. What I didn't know was Meta calculate grant RSU on the avegare of the "month before" you join.
Congratulations 🎉 Can you please share what and how you prepared for the system design round?
Alex Xu’s two books(read twice) + system design videos on YouTube. Not only high level design but also be prepared to be asked details like how to shard, SB schema, etc
Thanks, Which channels would you suggest on YouTube?
How did the team match go?
Matched a infra team at Menlo Park.
Were you able to match to a team ? What location ?
Yes matched a team within a week at Menlo Park
Nope, recruiter asked to select a couple so they can reach out to these teams first
