Seems like some desperate revenue increasing move? I recall twitter did that to increase revenue immediately.
META is done here. Simply copy pasting what others are doing to barely survive.
That’s what they have done for a decade plus. What they couldn’t buy, they copied.
Yeah normal playbook for Meta though. It's kept working
Who is using FB anyway?
2B+ users
It's crazy how this industry copy from each other. Same thing happened with subscription software. Same with layoffs. You just need a "bold" CEO who cares about profit at all costs and pulls the trigger. Rest of the industry follows just like a mindless sheep.
It's a slap in the face to those accounts who worked hard to get verified up to this point and felt it was a status and privilege. Now some 13 year old can pay $12 for it? Lame. Maybe more creators will drop the platform and move on. They need a life anyway.
Copying Elon
It’s free money for nothing. The influencers and kids will shell out $12. Everyone else won’t.
It should be some revenue
Otherwise why are they doing that?
