IME, Meta is leetcode except for Design rounds. Design depends on the person. Google problems I saw lot of scope for creative solutions and multiple solutions possible indeed.
All my meta questions were on leetcode whereas google retires leaked questions. So if you practice on leetcode then meta is relatively easy.
no way is google more difficult, they just downlevel you versus meta straight up rejecting you for not getting the 2 lc hards in 45
this â Google questions seem to be much easier or they donât expect you to complete it optimally. on the other hand, if you donât get 2 medium/hards perfect for Meta, youâre rejected. Google questions are less Leetcode-like but much more reasonable for someone who doesnât leetcode. All my Google interviewsâ questions weâre string matching and BFS/DFS etc. with some logical follow ups. Meanwhile at Meta 3/4 of my questions were dynamic programming.
Consider downlevel as rejections. People misunderstand by believing âI passed the interview but they downleveled!â This means you were actually rejected and only willing to have you on board with L-1 which your interview perf represents
What about LUCK???
Both were easy for me. I found IBM interview to be the hardest because the interviewers had no fucking clue. dumber the interviewers are, harder the interviews are because they only know one answer to their interview question and disregard any other potential answers.
I want to give it a shot for google. I know people say questions are random. How random do they get if we know all the patterns or concepts? Just curious
How random can an array question be? You know theres like 100 different array problems with their variations but most of them use similar patterns
meta questions are easier but you need to be quicker. if, like most of us, you leetcode a lot, meta is easier but if you're just really good at algos naturally then Google is easier

Does google ask leetcode tagged questions?
Meta was more standard/organized, while Google's process was haphazard mess. I had to code in a google doc. wtf. For coding, I thought Google's was a bit harder than Meta, but for system design, Meta's process was more throughout. Perhaps it was because one of my interviewer was a well known Director (who is not there anymore) at Meta, while at Google my system design was some random L7, who honestly was not that impressive (he came from a front end web background, and had little knowledge of mobile in general). So.... it depends on your strength. I'd say Meta's interview questions are easier to memorize as they are all leaked to some Chinese website if you look hard enough and I think this contributes to the skewed demographic of Meta.
You must have interviewed at google a while back. I remember when we used google docs for code interviews, but now we have a proper tool.

Meta is difficult because you have to spit out the answer for two questions in 45 minutes. Basically itâs a memorizing game. Google is hard because itâs all so random. Meta is easier to game if you really want to get in.
yea this
