Which one would you rather take? Currently at G so comfortable there but kinda lost faith in company/management and am bored of current work so not sure if it’s time to make a move and try something different My current WLB is really good tho, 30-35 hrs a week so not sure if worth the risk
If offer is for Cali, it can be better. But overall looks good
No sign on?
Only accept if you’re willing to put in the hours to keep up. Meta moves a lot faster than Google, and I miss that, but WLB could decrease.
When you say Meta moves a lot faster. Is it due to PSC or some process which forces everyone to move fast?
PSC is irrelevant IMO, even though that is more brutal than Grad. My experience was they moved a lot quicker because of tight timelines and the “move fast and break things” culture. People who also move fast and had big impact were quickly promoted.
Keep in mind you'd be joining meta when the stock is at an all time high, so there's very little upside available. Ask me how I know lol
YOE?
Not worth the risk to switch. If they gave your E5 sure, but just reinterview for that in a year and get a much better offer with better initial stock. Right now the switch means you’ll almost certainly be taking a pay cut in terms of $/hr, and there is the risk of a new team and Meta’s constant performance management and cutting right now.
Google rn is a bad place to work
Offer to move to Meta not a significant improvement
Moving to meta just because you lost faith in G?
Also bored with current work, no internal mobility rn due to almost non existent headcount
Normally I would say move, but you're only making 7% more if you do in your case and I'm not sure if the WLB loss is worth it esp if you are comfortable where you are.
