Why doesn't OpenAI offshore and reduce expense by 80%
I recently joined one of the well known security product teams in Micro Focus. I heard couple of people who left Micro Focus for FAANG saying they don't mind returning to the company if they received equivalent or better pay. Reason is they feel the atmosphere is less toxic with better WLB at Micro Focus. Just wondering what do people think about Micro Focus?
Do you mind sharing your pay? Micro focus pay is really bad and not even close to 2nd tier companies let alone FAANG.
I don't code. 15 relevant YOE. My base is on par with Tier-2 companies. Where I lose is on all other benefits. No RSUs. Bonus is peanuts. No pay raise. I joined because I have a great respect for the product from HP days (as a end user). Now I am rethinking my decision. Sorry can't reveal more details.
That answers the question. Bonus sucks and no RSU which is generally significant portion of your TC. Most employees at FAANG earn at least 30-50% in RSU and bonus if not more.
I still love the product we develop (more than the competition). I know I can easily get an offer from a competitor in the bay area. Should I get an offer to negotiate?
they won't counter for anything significant. been there
It shouldn't always be about the money, but I agree pay raises are non-existent and bonuses are sparse. This does make other opportunities enticing; however, I've been with other companies where pay and compensation was better but WLB sucked.
Anyone can refer me to micro focus ?
pay is awful compared to the industry, they're about 5-10 years behind any of the competition, more legacy than Oracle, no RSUs, stocks is trash, no pay raises, quotas are huge, leadership is fragile, and you get two worlds -- 1/2 have been at the company for 15-25 years and are in love with their baby/are comfortable; 1/2 join with high expectations/goals and plan their exit when they real how janky and god awful the environment is, clusterfuk for sure.
