Hi folks, What's the normal bonus attainment when for Core Priority incentive & Revenue Based Incentive at Microsoft? #microsoft
I’m on this comp plan - 100% generally. Just remember it’s a lower range than engineers bc engineers aren’t on the same plan.
What's your range?
Up to 56.4% of bonus eligible salary. It goes up with promotion increase. Also heavily dependent on manager budget
Bonuses at Microsoft are 100% funded. That means the money is pre-budgeted to give everyone 100%. When you move the slider, that either takes away from someone or gives more to someone. You need special permission to go above and beyond your bonus allocation (think SSAs) How that differs from other companies is that some places don't set aside money to fund bonuses. If money gets tight, bonuses don't get paid. Microsoft "already spent the money" so bonuses aren't at risk. I believe this budgeting is done at the beginning of the year. RBI and other consumption based incentives are also pre budgeted. If the money comes in, the bonuses are all set aside immediately.
this didn't age well..
How so? Merit increases are not bonuses. We are still getting our bonuses as normal this year.
You don’t cut bonuses while also doing layoffs if you want to retain any goodwill going forward.
